Promotional SMS now in Bangla

Now mobile users in Bangladesh to get promotional SMS in Bangla 


From next June, telecom operators will send all promotional and system-generated text messages and notifications in Bangla. 






Telecom Minister Mustafa Jabbar today launched the service at an event at the conference room of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), to mark the International Mother language Day.


This feature will be beneficial for a vast number of people, since more than 65 per cent of mobile users in Bangladesh still use feature phones, not smartphones, so it is hard to read for people who are unable to read English, sending promotional SMS in Mother Language. Telecom Minister Mustafa Jabbar said to respect he buyers, operators should communicate in the buyer's language.


It is very complex job to introduce Bangla in the machine system, said by Yasir Azman CEO at Grameenphone. Despite that we have implemented the initiative, and we are proud of it. 

The top telecom operators Grameenphone, Banglalink, Teletalk and Robi have already translated 87% of their all text message to Bangla, according to official data. At present 87% SMS sent in Bangla. On average mobile operator of the country send some total of 151.85 Core text SMS areto their user daily. 


How to Stop promotional SMS

We know that, In previous times The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has launched the 'Do Not Disturb' or 'DND' service, using which people can now stop the messages sent by telecom operator. 

To stop the promotional messages, users can dial
  • Grameenphone *121*1101#, 
  • Banglalink *121*8*6#, 
  • Robi and Airtel *7#.
